Tesla Introduces Foldable V4 Superchargers — Deploy 2x Faster at 20% Lower Cost

Tesla has unveiled its new Folding Unit V4 Superchargers, a radical redesign that doubles deployment speed and cuts installation costs by 20%. The foldable design allows 33% more units per truck, accelerating global expansion.

Tesla has officially introduced its new Folding Unit (FU) Superchargers, marking a radical redesign of its charging infrastructure aimed at doubling deployment speed while slashing costs.

The new foldable V4 design allows 33% more units to fit on a single delivery truck, cuts deployment time in half, and reduces overall installation cost by roughly 20%.

According to Max de Zegher, Tesla's director of charging in North America, the new V4 cabinets deliver three times the power density at a lower cost while supporting up to eight stalls per cabinet — double the capacity of V3.

In Germany and Poland, Tesla is already using the Folding V4 to blitz-build stations along the A2 and A4 motorways, with the ability to deploy a 40-stall station in a single weekend. Pilot installations have also begun in Tilburg, Netherlands, with a wider rollout across the UK and Germany expected in Q3 2026.

Plans for the world's largest Supercharger site — featuring up to 400 V4 stalls in a single location — are already underway, with Phase 1 construction targeted for later this year.

For EV drivers, this means more stations, faster. Use the Supercharger for Tesla app to track new station openings and find the nearest V4 charger on your route.
